The Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Shah expressed his condolences for the suffering of the Palestinian people at the hands of the Israeli regime.
Sultan Nazrin also expressed concern over the global state, stating that if competition and conflict persist, it will worsen.
He said, “The world is currently sick and I am worried that it may become fatal if the crisis of competition and conflict continues, leaving violence and humanitarian crisis unresolved.”
Sultan Nazrin expressed his deep sadness for the Palestinians’ immense suffering caused by the actions of the Israeli regime, actions he finds unimaginable in terms of human compassion.
In speaking about the suffering of innocent individuals in Palestine, Sultan Nazrin referenced the words exchanged between the Athenian forces and the people of Melos during the Peloponnesian War.
His Highness stated, “The strong do what they can and the weak suffer what they must.” Those who remained neutral on Melos Island were besieged, resulting in the death of all the men and the enslavement of women and children.
Sultan Nazrin made these comments during the Perak Darul Ridzuan Pledge of Loyalty and Investiture Ceremony held on his 67th birthday at Istana Iskandariah.
He emphasized that selfishness and an inclination to prove oneself right leads to destruction, hatred, and enmity rather than cooperation.
Efforts to uplift humanity, eradicate poverty, address food shortages, and eliminate ignorance and illiteracy encounter increasing challenges due to these factors, Sultan Nazrin said.
He stressed the need for collaboration over conflict, dialogue over disputes, and forgiveness over grudges. Sultan Nazrin urged people to repent and embrace peace by fostering goodwill in their hearts.
According to Sultan Nazrin, peace can only be achieved when individuals choose to understand one another.
His Highness highlighted the exceptional strength, perseverance, and courage required to speak the truth amid conflict and pursue peace in a world inclined towards fighting. He likened it to the strength, perseverance, and courage of a soldier on the battlefield. – Bernama
