The Sultan of Kedah, Al Aminul Karim Sultan Sallehuddin Sultan Badlishah, awarded the regimental colours to the 23rd Battalion of the Royal Malay Regiment (RAMD) on Wednesday (Oct 4).
The ceremony took place at Kem Perdana Sungai Besi in Kuala Lumpur and was held to acknowledge the contributions and sacrifices made by the battalion in defending the country’s sovereignty and maintaining peace.
Sultan Sallehuddin was accompanied by Tengku Sarafudin Badlishah Al-Aminul Karim Sultan Sallehuddin, the RAMD Colonel-in-Chief and Raja Muda of Kedah.
Also present at the event were General Tan Sri Mohammad Ab Rahman, the Commander of the Malaysian Armed Forces, and General Datuk Muhammad Hafizuddeain Jantan, the Army Commander.
During the ceremony, Sultan Sallehuddin inspected a guard of honour consisting of 23 officers and 386 members from the 23rd Battalion RAMD, led by Lieutenant Colonel Mohd Azroi Ariffin Shah.
In his speech, Sultan Sallehuddin stated that the award of the royal colours, which is the highest honor, was a recognition of the battalion’s service and loyalty to the King and the country.
He expressed his belief that this new award would serve as motivation for all members of the battalion to continue to show loyalty and commitment towards the country.
Sultan Sallehuddin also urged the battalion members to always strive to improve their preparedness and combat capabilities in order to safeguard the country’s sovereignty.
He emphasized that the battalion played a crucial role in the nation’s pursuit of excellence and determination to maintain its independence.
“Remember, you are all part of the pulse in the drive for excellence and determination of the people to become a successful nation in continuing to enjoy the country’s independence,” he added. – Bernama
