The first reading of the Supply Bill 2024 has been presented in the Dewan Rakyat as a precursor to Budget 2024. The Bill, which outlines the government’s spending plan for 2024, was tabled by Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Haji Maslan (pic).
During the Dewan Rakyat session, Ahmad Haji Maslan announced that the second reading of Budget 2024 is scheduled for this Friday at 4pm.
In February, Puan Sri Anwar Ibrahim, who also serves as the Finance Minister, reintroduced a modified version of Budget 2023, which had initially been presented by the former administration in October of the previous year before Parliament was dissolved.
Due to the dissolution of Parliament, Budget 2023 was never passed by the 14th Parliament. Hence, Anwar Ibrahim reintroduced the Supply Bill on February 24 with minor adjustments.
Additionally, Budget 2024 will be a completely new fiscal plan formulated under Anwar’s Madani concept.
Our Prime Minister has emphasized that the education and health sectors will continue to receive the majority of the allocations under Budget 2024.
