PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced that there will be a surprise announcement for the people of Pahang in the near future. Anwar made this statement ahead of his official visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) later this week. He mentioned that the announcement will not only benefit the nation as a whole, but also specifically benefit the state of Pahang.
During a ceramah event on Monday night in Simpang Pelangai, Anwar stated, “InsyaAllah, we will announce something important not only for Malaysia but for Pahang in particular. I did not want to tell Pahang Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail because I want it to remain a surprise.” Furthermore, he added in a lighthearted manner that the condition for the surprise announcement is winning the Pelangai by-election.
Anwar, who is also the Finance Minister, emphasized that the positive news is a result of the efforts made by Cabinet ministers in the unity government. He said, “They (investors) are confident that our political situation is stable. The combination of Pakatan Harapan-Barisan Nasional with Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) trust in each other.”
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Amanah president Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu were also present at the event. Anwar took the opportunity to encourage voters to support Barisan in the Pelangai by-election, stating, “I hope the voters will give the chance for Barisan to win because the confidence from you will be not only for the state government but for the Federal Government as well and Wan Rosdy, too.”
For the Pelangai by-election, Barisan has nominated Bentong Umno committee member Datuk Amizar Abu Adam. The by-election is scheduled for October 7 and is being held due to the unfortunate incident where the incumbent assemblyman Datuk Seri Johari Harun perished in a plane crash in Shah Alam in August.
