According to Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid, the 42-year-old man accused of murdering his parents in Kampung Sungai Penchala reportedly did so because they had refused to give him money. This is believed to be the motive behind the double murder.
Comm Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid stated, “Our investigations revealed that the suspect asked his parents for money but they refused. We believe this sparked the stabbings.” He also mentioned that police have taken statements from 12 people to aid in the investigations, including family members, neighbors, and other witnesses.
The police chief further mentioned that the investigation papers will be referred to the deputy public prosecutor this week. He made these statements after attending the City police Deepavali celebration in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday (Dec 14).
The suspect, who was detained for the alleged murder of his parents, tested positive for three types of drugs: amphetamine, methamphetamine, and morphine.
Neighbors called the police after hearing a commotion at the victims’ home. Upon arriving at the scene, police found the married couple, aged 72 and 82, lying in a pool of blood in the living room. The victims had multiple stab wounds, and the suspect had fled the scene.
With the help of villagers, the police managed to apprehend the suspect at the Penchala Link tunnel, which was approximately 100m from the house, at about 10.30pm on Saturday (Dec 9).
