GUA MUSANG: Climbing up a limestone cave wall or opting for the via ferrata trail and then “flying” over a distance of 130m not only promises satisfaction to extreme sports enthusiasts but also gets their adrenaline pumping.

This combination of two high-octane activities is available at the newly-opened Muse Ecopark, located in the middle of the Gua Musang-Kuala Krai road, near Masjid Buluh Gua Musang, Kelantan.

The park is an ideal recreational spot for those who love daring challenges.

Muse Ecopark coordinator Mohd Ruzuke Abdul Aziz said the park’s strategic location makes it easily accessible to visitors from various areas.

He said climbing the limestone cave wall is the park’s most popular activity and has become a talking point among extreme outdoor sports enthusiasts.

“Since its opening, the unique combination of via ferrata and flying fox activities, typically done separately elsewhere, has attracted tourists, both domestic and international,” he recently told Bernama.

A via ferrata, or “iron road” in Italian, is a pathway that has a set of fixed equipment consisting of metal rungs, rails, cables and bridges installed along a specific trail to facilitate ascension on a mountain or cave.

Mohd Ruzuke said the via ferrata trail requires visitors to climb the cave wall by crossing over a hundred iron rods until they reach the flying fox platform, which, according to him, is among the highest in Kelantan.

“Once they get to the platform, climbers can then take part in the flying fox activity from a height of 40m before landing on the Muse Ecopark field,” he said.

He also said they were collaborating with several tourism agencies to promote the park.

“We are also using social media as a marketing tool to introduce Muse Ecopark to the public,” he added.
