MELAKA: Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh announced plans to develop the coastal town of Tanjung Bidara into a holiday destination. The Melaka Chief Minister mentioned that the town will be revived through the implementation of various tourism products, including extreme sports recreation parks. He stated, “We will also organise various programmes catering for youngsters and extreme sports enthusiasts to visit and choose Tanjung Bidara as their holiday spot.”
Ab Rauf explained that the revival of Tanjung Bidara aims to bring back the town’s glory days from the 1970s and contribute to the preparations for the Visit Melaka Year 2024 (TMM2024). He further revealed plans to introduce a world-class remote control car (RC) sports circuit and a caravan park. These initiatives were announced during his participation in the Fit Malaysia State-level Walkabout programme held at Tanjung Bidara on September 17.
Thousands of participants joined the event and engaged in various sports activities, including cycling, Muay Thai, and aerobics. During the event, the Tanjung Bidara assemblyman emphasized the potential of sports and fitness-related activities in promoting family bonds and fostering harmonious living. He encouraged the adoption of the Fit Malaysia model in residential areas, villages, and populated neighborhoods.
In addition, Ab Rauf urged locals to take full advantage of the sports and recreational facilities offered by relevant agencies and organizations across the state. He highlighted several existing recreational parks in Melaka, such as Tanjung Bidara Beach, Ayer Keroh Botanical Garden, and the Tun Fatimah Stadium.
