KUALA LUMPUR: The Youth and Sports Ministry has revealed that there have been positive developments in discussions with the Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) regarding tax cuts for sports training, guidance, and the purchase of sporting equipment. Minister Hannah Yeoh stated that while the outcome of these discussions is still being considered for implementation, talks with LHDN CEO Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Nizom Sairi on Tuesday were productive.
“In Datuk Seri Mohd Nizom’s statement through social media, LHDN is committed to cooperating with the ministry to realize the national development agenda and develop sports to produce a generation of high-caliber athletes,” Hannah said in a statement to Bernama.
The discussions focused on the provision of tax incentives under Budget 2024, with the goal of encouraging parents to invest in sports and attracting corporate sponsorship for sports events.
