A teacher is facing legal trouble after allegedly slapping a seven-year-old student who had accused a friend of stealing a permission slip from his school. The incident happened at Sekolah Rendah Kebangsaan Kampung Jawa in South Klang, Malaysia. The boy’s mother reported the incident to the police on September 19.
According to Asst Comm Cha Hoong Fong, the South Klang OCPD, the teacher reprimanded the boy for making false accusations and slapped his cheek after finding the permission slip in the boy’s bag. The boy suffered minor swelling and redness on his left cheek as a result.
Police have classified the case as voluntarily causing hurt and have taken a statement from the teacher. They will soon complete their investigation and hand over the findings to the deputy public prosecutor. In addition, a doctor’s evaluation report and pictures of the boy’s injuries have been circulating on social media.
ACP Cha has advised the public to stop circulating the report and pictures. The incident occurred on September 18 around 6pm, when the boy was with some classmates after finishing sports activities. The religious teacher asked the students if they had handed in their permission slips for sports day. The boy claimed his permission slip had gone missing and accused a friend of stealing it.
After the teacher checked, she found the permission slip in the boy’s bag and scolded him for making false accusations. She then proceeded to slap his cheek. The boy’s mother lodged a police report the next day after her son told her about the incident.
The teacher’s actions have sparked controversy, with some people supporting her for disciplining the student, while others believe her actions were excessive. The investigation is ongoing and the teacher is now facing legal consequences for her alleged behavior.
The incident serves as a reminder for teachers and educators to handle disciplinary issues in a professional and appropriate manner, avoiding resorting to physical force. The boy’s mother hopes that justice will be served and that this incident will lead to improvements in how teachers address disciplinary matters.
It is important for the public to respect the privacy and well-being of the student involved, as sharing pictures and details of the incident can further traumatize the child. Authorities are urging people to stop sharing the report and pictures on social media.
