Three individuals, including a teenager, have been apprehended for allegedly hurling a Molotov cocktail into the residence of an elderly individual in Kulai.
The Kulai OCPD, Supt Tan Seng Lee, revealed that the police were notified about the incident around 1.50pm on Wednesday (March 13) by a 70-year-old local man who discovered burn marks on his house gate in Taman Damai, Jalan Jelatik.
According to Supt Tan, upon returning home, the victim noticed burn marks on his house gate and upon reviewing his CCTV footage, he witnessed two unidentified individuals on a motorcycle throwing Molotov cocktails at his gate.
As a result of the information provided, two separate raids were conducted on Thursday (March 14) in the Seri Alam area, leading to the arrest of three local men aged between 16 and 29 years old.
During the raids, two mobile phones and the attire worn by the suspects during the attack were seized by the authorities.
Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed that they had been paid to carry out the attack.
An ongoing investigation is focused on determining whether the suspects have any connection to other criminal activities in Kulai or neighboring areas. It was confirmed that all three individuals tested negative for drugs, though two of them have prior criminal records.
The case is currently under investigation under Section 435 of the Penal Code, which pertains to causing mischief by fire.
