A 19-year-old youth died while attempting to rescue another person who was on the verge of drowning at Lumut’s Teluk Senangin beach, in Ipoh, Malaysia. According to Capt Suliana Mohamad, the district officer of the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) in Manjung, the incident occurred on Sunday, September 24, around 10 am. The victim, identified as Muhammad Fahmi Hafizi Mohd Fadzli from Sungai Bakap in Penang, was swimming in the sea when he noticed someone struggling and swam towards them to provide assistance. Although he managed to rescue the person, Fahmi himself was subsequently overpowered by the waves and succumbed to drowning.
