In an operation dubbed Ops Dadu Khas, 27 individuals were arrested in Johor for engaging in gambling and illegal lottery activities. Among those apprehended were 24 men and three women, ranging from the ages of 19 to 64. The arrests took place during inspections conducted at 18 locations across the state on September 30.
Police chief of Johor, Comm Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat, revealed that the enforcement teams confiscated 27 mobile phones, 18 printers, and a total cash amount of RM4,070. According to a statement released on October 1, since the start of the operation on September 22, a total of 225 individuals have been arrested from the 198 premises inspected.
All of the individuals apprehended were between the ages of 18 and 66, consisting of 186 men and 39 women. They are currently under investigation for violations of Sections 4A(a) and 4B(a) of the Open House Gambling Act 1953.
Comm Kamarul Zaman stated that the affected premises will have their business licenses revoked by the local councils and their electricity supply disconnected by Tenaga Nasional Bhd. He also encouraged individuals with information on illegal activities to contact the state police hotline at 07-221 2999.
