Twenty-four individuals have been apprehended by the authorities in Kepala Batas following an assault on a teenager at a petrol station in Bagan Ajam. The suspects, ranging in age from 16 to 24, were taken into custody for their alleged involvement in the incident that took place on Thursday, October 19th. A video capturing the incident went viral on various social media platforms, leading to their identification. ACP Mohd Asri Shafie, the OCPD of North Seberang Prai, revealed that one of the arrested persons had previously committed two offenses.
According to ACP Mohd Asri, the preliminary investigation unveiled that the altercation began when the victim provoked the group by revving his motorcycle engine during a religious procession. The authorities have initiated an investigation into the matter under Section 147 of the Penal Code. ACP Mohd Asri emphasized that such incidents have the potential to disrupt public peace and cause disturbances. He urged anyone with additional information regarding the incident to approach the nearest police station or directly contact Inspector Mohd Nazri Wan Chik, the assigned investigating officer, at 014-319 0131.
