A 13-year-old boy drowned while swimming in Sungai Paya Bakau, Felda Sungai Mas, Bandar Penawar. The incident occurred on Saturday (Sept 16) at 10.12am, according to Bandar Penawar Fire and Rescue Department operation commander, Abd Rahim Abd Rani. The public witnessed the incident, and the body was retrieved before the rescue team arrived. Unfortunately, the victim, identified as Muhammad Izwan Shah Nazeri, was pronounced dead at the location by the medical team. The body was subsequently handed over to the police.
The case has been classified as a sudden death by Kota Tinggi OCPD Supt Hussin Zamora. The police received the report about the incident at 10.25am.
