SEGAMAT: The teenager who was involved in a five-vehicle accident on Jalan Segamat-Kuantan on Friday (Sept 1) remains under treatment at Segamat Hospital’s intensive care unit (ICU).

Johor State Health and Unity Committee chairman Ling Tian Soon has refuted allegations that the victim, Abdullah Amir Ruddin, 15, had passed away.

According to him, the victim is still receiving medical care and has been placed in a medically induced coma.

“The adolescent is still in the ICU of Segamat Hospital. The injured individual sustained severe injuries and has been placed in a coma,” he confirmed when contacted by Bernama on Saturday (Sept 2).

The accident resulted in the demise of Abdullah’s parents, Norahimah Noor Muhammad, 43, and Amir Ruddin Ismail, 46.

Moreover, the victim’s four other siblings, Fatimatulzahrah, 17; Seri Khadijah Aqilah, 13; Rufaidatul Asyariyah, 10; and Muhammad Assyakrawi, five, also lost their lives after the vehicle they were in collided with a lorry. – Bernama
