KUALA LUMPUR: The remand order for a teenage boy suspected of being involved in the murder of 10-year-old Orang Asli girl, Nuraina Humaira Rosli, has been extended for five more days, Malay language daily Sinar Harian reports.

Sungai Siput OCPD Supt Mohd Khaizam Ahmad Shahabudin said the remand period for the 17-year-old suspect has been extended until Friday (Aug 30) to facilitate investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

“The remand for the suspect is extended until Aug 30, and we will provide information on the new charge date later,” he said when contacted by Sinar Harian on Monday (Aug 26).

Media reports said the suspect was arrested on Aug 19 after a post-mortem report on the victim revealed signs of injuries caused by pressure to the neck.

The police also do not rule out the possibility that the victim was raped before being murdered.

In the incident, the body of the Year Four pupil from SK Pos Kuala Mu was found at around 4.20pm following a search operation initiated after the victim was reported missing since Aug 16.

The victim was found lying in a swampy area in the Orang Asli village of Kampung Bersah, Pos Kuala Mu.
