MUAR: Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz has announced that a special meeting will be held in October to address the challenges faced by furniture industry players. The Investment, Trade, and Industry Minister will be chairing the roundtable session, which is expected to take place in Kuala Lumpur.
In a press conference after a dialogue session with furniture industry players in Muar, Tengku Zafrul stated that he had met with members of the Muar and national furniture associations. These industry representatives raised various issues that need to be addressed.
Tengku Zafrul confirmed that he had agreed to collaborate with the Johor government to organize a roundtable session specifically designed to tackle these issues. One of the main concerns raised by industry players was the shortage of skilled workers.
Additionally, furniture industry players expressed a desire for both state and federal governments to assist them in exploring new international markets. They also brought up the matter of the Muar Furniture Hub and expressed hope that the relevant party, Johor Corporation (JCorp), could engage in discussions to resolve any outstanding issues. Tengku Zafrul revealed that a meeting with JCorp is also scheduled.
Overall, the objective of the special meeting in October is to provide a platform for furniture industry players to voice their concerns and seek resolutions to the challenges they face. Through collaboration with the government and relevant parties, the aim is to address issues such as the shortage of skilled workers and tap into new markets for industry growth.
