PETALING JAYA: Designated seats for women will be introduced during football matches at the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium in Terengganu to address the intermingling between sexes.

According to Kosmo!, Terengganu state exco member Hishamuddin Abdul Karim said that the move would begin on Tuesday (July 30) during the Super League match between Terengganu FC and Negri Sembilan.

Hishamuddin, who is also the Terengganu Football Association president said this was to address the issue of intermingling between men and women during the FA Cup semi-final match between Terengganu FC and Selangor last week.

“The stadium is open and women are not barred from entering any door or sitting anywhere in the stadium.

“The special seats are an effort to ensure compliance with religious and shariah requirements, while hopefully reducing the intermingling between men and women during football matches,” he was quoted as saying.

He also said both the Terengganu Sports Complex and Terengganu FC management will designate special seats for families.
