The Sultan of Terengganu, Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin, is mourning the loss of his mother, Tengku Besar of Terengganu, Fatimah @ Sharifah Nong Alsagoff Abdillah, who passed away at 3.17am on Thursday (Aug 3).
In a statement, the Comptroller of the Terengganu Royal Household, Datuk Mohd Sophian Abu Bakar, announced that the remains of Tengku Besar of Terengganu were transported from Kuala Lumpur to Terengganu via a special aircraft at 2pm.
Her remains will be taken to the Istana Al-Muktafi Billah, where family and relatives will have the opportunity to pay their final respects. The funeral prayers and burial will take place at the Al-Muktafi Billah Shah Mosque Royal Mausoleum in Ladang at 4pm.
Sultan Mizan has declared a five-day period of mourning, during which tahlil sessions will be held for five consecutive nights at the Istana Syarqiyyah, commencing on Thursday night. – Bernama
