KLANG: Tesla Inc’s decision to establish its Malaysia headquarters in Selangor demonstrates the trust and confidence investors have in the state’s administration, according to Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, the Mentri Besar of Selangor. In a statement, Amirudin highlighted that Tesla’s presence in Selangor will attract more international companies engaged in battery technology to invest in the state. Additionally, he mentioned that this development will stimulate interest among the younger generation to pursue high-tech fields, particularly in the clean energy industry.
This announcement comes after Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s virtual meeting with Tesla’s CEO, Elon Musk, on Friday (July 14) morning. Following the meeting, Anwar revealed that Tesla Inc will establish its operations in Selangor later this year.
Amirudin emphasized that Tesla Inc’s investment is not only significant for the automobile industry but also for the adoption of clean energy batteries in public transportation sectors like railways, buses, and vans. He stated, “This development aligns with the state government’s vision of transforming Selangor into a state with state-of-the-art 5G facilities in the Southeast Asia region, attracting local and foreign investors who will offer well-paid jobs to Selangor residents.”
Furthermore, Amirudin assured that the state is prepared to facilitate Tesla Inc’s entry into Selangor by providing suitable locations for the headquarters, service center, and experience center. The identified sites are located in the Petaling and Sepang districts, with the relevant district offices and local authorities ready to coordinate and make the necessary arrangements to accommodate Tesla Inc’s investment.
This move by Tesla Inc highlights the increasing interest and confidence in Selangor’s potential as a hub for technological advancements and clean energy solutions. The state government’s efforts to attract international companies and create a conducive environment for innovation and investment are attracting attention and paving the way for a prosperous future in Selangor.
