In Kuala Terengganu, Batu Buruk assemblyman Dr Muhammad Khalil Abdul Hadi stated that the government is keeping a close eye on efforts to revive the deviant teachings of Ayah Pin, known for the controversial “Sky Kingdom” sect. He mentioned that authorities are currently taking action based on information that has been received regarding attempts to bring back the misguided teachings in the Besut area.

A post on the Facebook account of “Imam Muda Kulan” recently highlighted that certain movements in the Besut region are working to revive the teachings of Ayah Pin, also called Ariffin Muhamad. This has raised concerns about the resurgence of beliefs deemed deviant by the Fatwa Committee of the Terengganu Islamic Religion and Malay Customs Council (Maidam), which issued a fatwa against the teachings in 1997 under the Islamic Religious Administration Enactment 1986.

Back in April 2005, the Besut district Land Office took action to dismantle several large replicas at Ayah Pin’s headquarters, where more than 150 followers were present. The controversial leader, Ariffin Muhamad, passed away in April 2016 at the age of 74 in Kampung Batu 13, Hulu Besut.

Despite the passing of Ayah Pin, concerns have been raised about attempts to revive his teachings in Besut. Authorities are actively investigating the situation and taking necessary steps to address any resurgence of deviant beliefs. The teachings of Ayah Pin have a history of controversy and have been subject to official condemnation by religious authorities in the past.

The legacy of Ayah Pin and the “Sky Kingdom” sect continues to draw attention, with efforts to revive his teachings sparking alarm among government officials and religious leaders. The situation in Besut is being closely monitored, and action will be taken to prevent the spread of beliefs deemed deviant within the community. The memories of Ayah Pin and his followers remain a contentious issue in the region.

Dr Muhammad Khalil Abdul Hadi emphasized the need for vigilance in addressing any attempts to revive the teachings of Ayah Pin, highlighting the government’s commitment to upholding religious orthodoxy and preventing the spread of beliefs deemed deviant. The authorities are taking the matter seriously and are determined to prevent a resurgence of controversial teachings in the Besut area.

As the government responds to reports of efforts to revive the teachings of Ayah Pin, the controversy surrounding the “Sky Kingdom” sect is once again in the spotlight. The actions taken by religious authorities and government officials are aimed at safeguarding the community from the influence of beliefs that have been deemed deviant and contrary to established religious norms.

The legacy of Ayah Pin and the challenges posed by attempts to revive his teachings underscore the importance of remaining vigilant against the spread of deviant beliefs in society. By staying alert and taking proactive measures, authorities aim to protect the community from the potential harm that can arise from the propagation of controversial teachings.
