PETALING JAYA: Dr Wee Ka Siong has called for the cessation of the cruel atrocities suffered by civilians in Gaza. The MCA president expressed this during a meeting with the Ambassador of Palestine to Malaysia, H.E Walid Abu Ali, at Wisma MCA on Friday (Oct 27), as he later posted on Facebook.
Dr Wee outlined three immediate steps that should be taken to alleviate the prolonged suffering of innocent civilians in Gaza. Firstly, the international community must appeal for an immediate ceasefire by both parties involved, in order to minimize the losses in Palestine. Secondly, a humanitarian corridor should be established to facilitate the delivery of much-needed aid into Gaza. Lastly, an independent body should be created to monitor the situation on the ground and prevent the crisis from escalating.
In further support of the people in Palestine, MCA Youth plans to submit a memorandum to the Palestinian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur. Dr Wee emphasized that this issue is political and pertains to the violation of human rights and international law. He stressed the importance of empathy for those who are suffering innocently as a result of the war.
