KUCHING: Over the weekend, the number of flood victims in Sarawak saw a significant increase, with more than 1,000 evacuees seeking refuge in eight temporary evacuation centers located in the southern regions of the state. As reported by the Sarawak State Disaster Management Committee, a total of 1,193 individuals from 367 families have been displaced and are currently being housed in the evacuation centers. This marks a stark rise from the earlier count of 356 individuals from 121 families, which was reported earlier on Saturday.
The evacuation centers in the Kuching area specifically include Dewan R-Piang Kampung Sinar Budi Baru, Dewan Masyarakat Stapok, SJK (C) Chung Hua Batu Kawa, SJK (C) Chung Hua Sungai Tengah, and Dewan Taman Malihah. In addition, other evacuation centers are located in Bau, namely Balai Raya Kampung Senibung and Dewan Kampung Segong, while PPS SK Pasir Tengah in Lundu is also accommodating flood victims. – Bernama
