PETALING JAYA: Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan stated that a sock discovered in the river where the body of autistic six-year-old Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin was found did not belong to him. This conclusion was reached after a laboratory analysis of the sock.
Comm Hussein emphasized that the sock was determined not to have been part of Zayn Rayyan’s belongings. He also mentioned that police personnel are still at the scene, continuing their search for any evidence related to the case.
Additionally, Comm Hussein confirmed that the police have taken statements from 172 individuals, including Zayn Rayyan’s parents and residents at the Idaman Apartment. He also stated that the investigation is ongoing.
According to reports, the sock was discovered on Dec 13 in the river close to where Zayn Rayyan’s body was located. Prior to this, the river had been emptied to allow police personnel to search for evidence.
Truck personnel from the Department of Irrigation and Drainage were seen entering the crime scene on Dec 12 at around 11:30am. Shortly after, a forensics team and the K-9 unit arrived, with the pump being deployed to clear the river water, as confirmed by sources.
Zayn Rayyan’s body was discovered 34 hours after he was reported missing. The tragic incident occurred on Dec 6 in a river near his home at Idaman Apartment in Damansara Damai at around 10pm.
