The Star has been awarded the gold prize in the Media and Networks category at the 2023 Putra Brand Awards. Representing the publication was Datin Paduka Esther Ng, the chief content officer of Star Media Group.
Expressing her gratitude, Ng said, “This is a great honor for Star Media Group and it will only motivate us to work even harder to be the voice of the people. I want to thank those who have supported us by voting for us.”
Astro received the platinum award in the same category, while Malay radio station Era FM and Harian Metro were both awarded the silver. Hot FM and TV3 were both recipients of bronze awards.
The Putra Brand Awards, held at One World Hotel on Jan 19, is the only brand award that is organized by and for brand managers and owners. Its purpose is to acknowledge brands that have strong connections and relationships with consumers.
The winners were determined through a thorough consumer research methodology developed by IQ LeanLab, which engaged with at least 6,000 consumers in Malaysia to identify the country’s favorite brands across various categories.
According to the organizers of the Putra Brand Awards, they received over 11,000 consumer responses during a survey period from September to October 2023, as individuals responded to “invitation-to-participate” ads published on 62 websites.
Ipsos, a research company, directly captured the responses and compiled them for validation by the Putra Brand Awards board of governors. The board includes Datuk Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz, the CEO of Matrade, Tan Sri Vincent Lee, the honorary life president of the Association of Accredited Advertising Agents Malaysia (4As), and heads of various media groups and advertiser associations.
