The director of Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah (HTAR), Klang, Dr Zulkarnain Mohd Rawi, has stated that the allegations of negligence involving a wire being left in a patient’s blood vessel during surgery will be thoroughly investigated.
Dr. Zulkarnain mentioned that the incident, which allegedly occurred on December 7, has gained attention on social media and is currently under detailed investigation by the hospital.
A post on social media has claimed that a guide wire was left in a blood vessel leading to the heart after a procedure was performed on a 53-year-old patient.
It was also alleged that the patient had to be taken to Hospital Sungai Buloh for surgery to remove the guide wire.
Dr. Zulkarnain stated in a release on Dec 8 that “HTAR gives the assurance that every complaint will be investigated transparently according to the procedures without compromising the rights of the patients.”
He added, “The outcome of the investigations will be communicated to the patient or family members to safeguard the confidentiality of the information.”
Dr. Zulkarnain emphasized that the hospital will not overlook any negligence that may have occurred during the patient’s treatment at HTAR.
