Motorists flocked to the PDRM Selangor Merdeka Ride and Carnival in Shah Alam to settle their outstanding summonses at a discounted rate, according to Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan. The special offer was only applicable to specific traffic offenses. Comm Datuk Hussein urged the attendees not to miss out on the opportunity to clear their outstanding summonses. He highlighted that the offer would only be valid until 5pm on Saturday (Aug 26) and observed that there were still many people in line.
Comm Datuk Hussein also shared that the carnival will become an annual event in conjunction with the National Day celebrations. He believes that the program is beneficial for community policing as it allows the public to directly interact with the police force. The carnival featured many booths that showcased the functions and abilities of various police units. It also facilitated the sharing and receiving of information, particularly regarding sexual-related and commercial crimes.
Earlier, the police had announced that motorists attending the carnival would receive a special 50% discount on selected summonses.
