GEORGE TOWN: Thousands of school leavers and their parents turned up on the last day of Star Education Fair 2024 held at Setia Spice Convention Centre on Sunday.

Many of them were waiting outside the event venue from as early as 10am.

Administration executive Tan Yin, 33, was seen at the convention centre entrance with her friend, entering the hall as the bell rang to signal the event’s start at 11am.

Tan said that she and her friend took advantage of the weekend to visit the Universiti Sains Malaysia (UMS) booth, where they looked into the master’s degree courses offered by the university.

“I have been looking for ways to upgrade myself, and continuing my education seems to be best for me now,” she said.

Tan who holds a degree in psychology from a local university said, she is looking to enrol herself in post-graduate studies in counselling at USM.

She feels the university fees for the course she is interested in are affordable.

“It is good that Star Media Group organised this event, it is a good platform for the public especially school leavers who are looking to continue their studies,” she said, adding that she has made up her mind to study at USM.
