Reports from Shah Alam have detailed the arrest of three men, including a journalist, for trespassing into the official residence of the Selangor Mentri Besar.
The incident took place at approximately 5.10pm on Friday, when a journalist from a local news portal reportedly entered the residence without any prior invitation.
Upon arrival, the journalist was denied entry by police at the main security post. Ten minutes later, a vehicle carrying two men arrived at the post, claiming they had a meeting there.
After checking the vehicle at the parking lot, police found the journalist, who had tried to enter earlier, attempting to hide in the rear passenger section of the vehicle.
Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari’s press secretary Jay Jay Dennis confirmed the incident, stating that the individuals were arrested for trespassing and posing a security risk. They were then taken to the Section 6 police station in Shah Alam.
“Looks like they were acting under orders. Fortunately police reacted promptly to prevent any untoward incident,” Dennis commented.
A video of the alleged three men has been uploaded on Twitter by Jason Yew, former political secretary of the Teja assemblywoman Sandrea Ng, bearing the caption “Opposition supporters and a journalist were arrested for trespassing into the Selangor Mentri Besar’s residence?”.
The 29-second video features one person admitting to being an accomplice in the trespassing, along with a copy of the police report.
