Three boys are believed to have drowned while swimming in Sungai Batang Lassa in Daro on Sunday (Oct 15).
The three victims have been identified as Herodias Enggung, Aldrin Gambang Allan, and Sebastian Oziel Seman.
All of them are 13 years old.
The State Fire and Rescue Department received a distress call at 6.37pm from Daro police station regarding a drowning incident in the mentioned river.
“The four of them were swimming in the river when a strong water current swept three of them away, and they are presumed to have drowned,” it stated.
Firefighters, along with the police, civil defense force, and local residents, immediately initiated a search and rescue operation for the victims.
The search and rescue operation was called off at 7.45pm and will resume on Monday (Oct 16).
