The Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has ordered the closure of three restaurants in Bukit Bintang over concerns about food safety. The decision was made during an operation in the constituency on September 18. According to a post on DBKL’s Facebook page, a total of 19 food premises were visited during the operation, and one of them was ordered to close.
Out of the 18 premises that were visited, a total of 29 compounds were issued under the Licensing of Food Establishments (Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur) By-laws 2016. These compounds were issued for various violations, specifically related to the handling of raw food items and cooking utensils, as well as cleanliness.
The enforcement action taken by DBKL received positive feedback from many netizens who commented on the Facebook post. They applauded the authority for their efforts in ensuring food safety.
Several netizens also took the opportunity to suggest other areas that they suspected of having dirty eateries for future operations by DBKL.
