Machang OCPD Supt Mohd Adli Mat Daud confirmed the incident after receiving a report from the public. The victims, all in their 30s, were immediately transported to Machang Hospital.

Anies Asiykin Ariffin, a 29-year-old witness residing about 50 meters away from the site, reported hearing cries for help coming from the construction area. Another witness, 36-year-old Amiro Anuar, hurried back home upon receiving a call from his wife regarding the incident. Given their close proximity to the location, he expressed his deep concern and witnessed a large crowd, along with the police and the Fire and Rescue team, working diligently to recover the victims’ bodies.

Authorities have not disclosed the cause of the landslide or whether any safety measures were in place at the site. The bodies have been sent for further investigation and to determine the exact cause of death.

Employers and construction companies are encouraged to prioritize worker safety and adhere to strict safety regulations to prevent such tragic incidents. The construction industry is known for its hazardous nature, emphasizing the need for constant vigilance and implementation of comprehensive safety protocols.
