Three friends in Perak, Malaysia, have been collectively charged in court for allegedly trafficking over 26kg of drugs into the country. The accused individuals, identified as M. Thinesh (21), M. Viknewaran (25), and M. Thinesh Kumar (26), appeared before Magistrate S. Punitha on Friday (Sept 29), but no plea was recorded at the time the charges were read.
The trio stand accused of trafficking 26,178g of ketamine near the Petron gas station on Jalan Gopeng in Kampung Gunung Rapat, Perak. The alleged incident occurred on September 20 at 9:15 PM.
The charges leveled against them fall under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, in conjunction with Section 34 of the Penal Code. If found guilty, the penalty entails the death sentence or life imprisonment with a minimum of 12 strokes of the cane.
During the court hearing, the three defendants, represented by lawyer RR Segaran, were denied bail. The case has been scheduled for mention on December 26.
