Perak police have arrested a man, his wife, and his sister-in-law after discovering over 10kg of heroin in their possession. The 30-year-old man, his 27-year-old wife, and his 19-year-old sister-in-law were apprehended at their residence in Jelapang on Sunday (July 23) at approximately 3 pm. Perak police chief Comm Datuk Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri stated that drugs valued at about RM89,000 and packaging equipment were seized. In addition, 22 pieces of jewelry worth RM82,668 and three vehicles, including a lorry, a car, and a motorcycle, worth RM109,500 were confiscated. The authorities suspect that the syndicate began operating in September of the previous year.
Comm Mohd Yusri noted, “The seized drugs were intended to be distributed in the local market, potentially affecting at least 15,000 drug addicts.” The man works as a lorry driver, while the two women are currently unemployed. Both the husband and wife tested positive for morphine, and the husband has a criminal record. The couple has been remanded for six days from July 24, while the teenager has been remanded for three days from the same date to assist with the investigations.
