KUALA LUMPUR: Three Army officers were injured after an M81-11 (Agusta L109H) military helicopter made an emergency landing during a night air exercise in Kluang, Johor

The Army said the incident occurred during the Army Aviation Basic Officer Course at Kem Mahkota Kluang at about 1.35am on Friday (June 28).

The aircraft made the emergency landing at the camp’s runway.

“The incident involved three crewmen consisting of a helicopter instructor, a course participant and a quartermaster.

“All crewmen are conscious but they suffered multiple injuries, including a spine fracture and various wounds.

“All of them are stable and have been sent to the Enche Besar Hajjah Khalsom Hospital in Kluang for further treatment,” the Army said in a statement Friday (June 28).

The helicopter involved has been temporarily grounded.

“Rectification and a one-time inspection will be conducted to return the can-fly status of the aircraft.

“The Army will also form an Investigation Board to identify the cause of the incident.

“We also urge the public not to speculate on the incident and pray that all crewmen will recover,” it said.
