    Three nabbed in Ipoh crackdown on parking touts

    A crackdown on illegal parking attendants took place in the city centre of Ipoh on Sunday (Nov 5), as part of a special operation.

    The Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Yahaya Hassan stated that the operation was carried out in response to public complaints regarding these “ulat parkir.” He explained that police patrols, monitoring, and intelligence work were conducted.

    During the operation, the police apprehended three local men between the ages of 43 and 55 for engaging in illegal car parking activities along Jalan Laxamana, Jalan Bijih Timah, and Jalan Foo Yet Kai.

    “Any individual who commits this offense and is involved in illegal parking activity can be charged under Section 50 (3) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for directing a vehicle to park in an unauthorized space,” said Asst Comm Yahaya Hassan in a statement on Monday (Nov 6).

    If convicted, the offenders can face a fine of up to RM2,000, a maximum prison sentence of six months, or both penalties.
