KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has predicted thunderstorms and rain on Aug 8, which coincides with the early voting day, in the six states where elections are taking place.
According to the department’s website, thunderstorms are expected in one or two locations along the coastal areas of Selangor and Negri Sembilan in the morning. Similarly, similar weather conditions with rain are predicted for the inland areas in the evening.
In Penang and Kedah, rain is forecasted in one or two locations along the coastal area in the morning, followed by thunderstorms in the afternoon at one or two places.
The weather is expected to turn fine at night.
For Terengganu and Kelantan, fine weather is expected in both states in the morning, but thunderstorms are predicted in one or two places in the afternoon and evening.
The Election Commission has set tomorrow as the early voting day for the state elections in Selangor, Kedah, Penang, Kelantan, Terengganu, and Negri Sembilan, while the polling day is scheduled for Aug 12. – Bernama
