The Malaysian government has accused social media platform TikTok of blocking pro-Palestinian content. However, TikTok strongly denies these allegations, stating that their community guidelines apply equally to all content on the platform and they are committed to consistently enforcing their policies to protect their community. A spokesperson for TikTok made these statements in an email to Reuters.
The government of Malaysia has also warned of possible action against social media firms TikTok and Meta, claiming that their platforms have been restricting content that supports Palestinians. In response, Meta, the parent company of Facebook, has asserted that there is “no truth” to these claims. They emphasize that they are not intentionally suppressing voices on their Facebook platform.
