Time for new blood in MCA, says Dr Wee

PETALING JAYA: It is time to pump in new blood into MCA, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

The party president said this at a meeting with senior MCA members in the aftermath of the recently-concluded state polls

“Strengthening our party and our election machinery is an important and urgent task now. We need to attract the younger generation to join the party so that they can contribute to nation building while ensuring the party remains dynamic,” said Dr Wee.

He said this after officiating the Pahang MCA State Convention in Bentong in the afternoon, a day after the six-state election concluded.

He also shared with party members and delegates his analysis of the elections, saying that the competition between political parties was stiff.

“The results of the elections have given us pointers on what we should do now to prepare for the 16th general election,” he said.

Among those present were MCA deputy president Datuk Dr. Mah Hang Soon; secretary-general Datuk Chong Sin Woon, vice presidents Datuk Lim Ban Hong, Datuk Tan Teik Cheng and Datuk Seri Ti Lian Ker.

Aside from them, Youth chief Datuk Nicole Wong, Wanita chief Wong You Fong, party deputy secretary-general Datuk Pamela Yong and deputy treasurer Datuk Lawrence Low were also present along with Organisation Centre deputy secretary Leaw Kok Chan.

Additionally, Pahang MCA chairman Datuk Seri Hoh Khai Mun, Pahang MCA secretary Datuk Quek Tai Seong; Pahang MCA Youth chief Wong Siew Mun and Pahang MCA Wanita chief Tan Choo Kuan also attended the event.

Lawmakers were also in attendance; Tanjung Piai MP Datuk Seri Wee Jeck Seng as well as Senators Lim Pay Hen and Datuk Wira Koh Nai Kwong along with Machap Jaya assemblyman Ngwe Hee Sem; Pekan Nanas assemblyman Tan Eng Meng, Bekok Assemblyman Tan Chong and Chenderiang Assemblyman Choong Shin Heng.

Along with them, MCA central committee members, Pahang and division MCA chairmen also attended the event.
