    JOHOR BARU: Tunku Mahkota of Johor Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim recently conducted a crucial meeting with Singapore Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, who also serves as the Finance Minister, at The Treasury as part of his official visit to Singapore. The HRH Crown Prince of Johor’s official Facebook page shared details of the meeting, emphasizing the strategic economic partnership between Singapore and the state of Johor and the potential for even greater growth in the future.

    During the meeting, the discussion primarily revolved around the proposed Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone, which is set to be established in Johor. Additionally, both parties focused on strengthening trade and investment ties between Singapore and the state. The statement released on the official Facebook page stated that the meeting was fruitful and productive.

    This official visit of Tunku Ismail to Singapore began on July 10 and is set to conclude tomorrow. The visit was extended at the invitation of Singapore Foreign Minister Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan, highlighting the significance of the diplomatic relations between the two countries.

    In addition to the meeting with Lawrence Wong, Tunku Ismail also attended a hi-tea event at the Shangri-La Hotel in Singapore. The hi-tea was hosted by Singapore Minister of Culture, Community and Youth, Edwin Tong. During this event, a memorable moment took place as the Johor Football Association and Singapore Football Association signed a Memorandum of Understanding. This memorandum signifies the cooperation between the two associations in terms of football development. A significant outcome of this collaboration is the establishment of an annual football tournament between the Johor Selection and Singapore Selection, commencing in 2024.
