In Petaling Jaya, a two-year-old baby girl tragically passed away after being unintentionally left in a vehicle for more than seven hours.
According to Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Fakhrudin Abd Hamid, the victim’s mother had taken her two children to a school near their home in Ara Damansara at around 7am on Wednesday (Oct 8).
“She then went to a nearby daycare centre to drop off the victim. However, she settled some online business transactions while parked near the daycare centre and forgot to drop the victim off,” he said. The mother, in her 30s, then went home and only realised the victim was still in the car at about 3.35pm on the same day.
After discovering the unconscious victim, the father immediately called MERS 999 and provided the victim with initial treatment. The victim was then taken to Hospital Sungai Buloh for further treatment, but unfortunately was pronounced dead at the hospital,” he added.
ACP Mohamad Fakhrudin also mentioned that a post-mortem will be conducted and the case is being investigated under Section 31(1) of the Child Act 2001. He urged the public to be more alert and responsible for the safety of their children, and asked anyone with information on the case to contact the Petaling Jaya police operations room at 03-79662222.
