JOHOR BARU: Three inseparable friends who always stick together have achieved a remarkable feat in their Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia 2022 examinations, securing a perfect score. The trio, studying at SMK Sultan Ismail, all achieved a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 4.0 in the recently released results. After their success, Amir Haziq Miswan, Lim Meng Han, and Louis Low extended their gratitude to their teachers for the exceptional guidance they received. During an interview with The Star, they shared the secret of their success, revealing how their joint study group played a crucial role.

Amir Haziq, a 20-year-old student, mentioned that they dedicated their time after school to study together, which helped them gain a deeper understanding of their lessons. He also expressed his intention of pursuing economics at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) in the near future. Similarly, Lim, also 20 years old, has set her sights on following in her parents’ footsteps and becoming a teacher. With her outstanding results from the STPM, she hopes to further her studies at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). Lastly, Low, at 20 years old, aspires to be a civil servant and has applied to pursue a law degree at Universiti Malaya (UM). Although they will be pursuing their individual dreams, the trio remains committed to their strong friendship.

In Parit, Perak, another student achieved a perfect CGPA of 4.0 solely relying on a mobile phone for online classes. Nur Izah Sabri, a 20-year-old student from Seri Iskandar, was one of two exceptional students at SMK Iskandar Shah, Parit. She shared her journey, stating that after completing her Sijil Peperiksaan Malaysia (SPM), she worked as a waitress for two months, earning RM1,200 per month. Using her earnings, she supported her parents financially and purchased a smartphone worth RM700 for herself. Her father works as a Felcra settler, while her mother is a full-time housewife. With her parents’ modest income and four siblings, Nur Izah was motivated to excel in her STPM. Despite scoring all Bs in her trial exams, she was pleasantly surprised to achieve a perfect CGPA. Nur Izah plans to further her studies at Universiti Sains Malaysia to pursue her dream of becoming a Geography teacher.

Chieng Joo Sheng expressed his relief at achieving a 4.0 CGPA in Biology, as he initially believed he would receive an A-. He attributed his success to effective time management, highlighting the importance of balancing academics and co-curricular activities. The dedicated student trusted his teachers and did not rely on tuition classes to excel. He prioritizes his health and believes that his academic achievements are a reflection of maintaining a balanced lifestyle.
