KOTA KINABALU: Sabah and Sarawak are set to align the terms and conditions of their Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) programme, according to Datuk Christina Liew.

The State Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister announced that she would soon meet with Sarawak’s Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Minister, Datuk Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, to harmonise the programme details.

“We aim to reach an agreement on key aspects such as deposit requirements for programme participation,” Liew said, addressing delegates at the Welcome Banquet for the 7th Global Longchuan Association Fellowship Conference and Longchuan Industrial Development Investment Promotion Conference on Saturday (Sept 7).

In another development, Liew highlighted that Malaysian tour and travel agents are currently promoting tours to China at the ongoing Matta (Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents) Fair in Kuala Lumpur.

“The Fair has set a new record in the Malaysia Book of Records (MBR) with 1,590 exhibition booths, the largest ever.”

Some 500 delegates from China, including Longchuan County leaders and officials, as well as representatives from Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Macao, West Malaysia and Sarawak, attended the banquet hosted by the state ministry at the Pacific Sutera Hotel.

“We warmly welcome our Longchuan friends from around the world to Kota Kinabalu. We hope you will take the opportunity to explore our beautiful islands, enjoy our fresh seafood and experience our local culture,” Liew said.

“If you can’t visit this time, we look forward to welcoming you next year.”

She congratulated the organisers for hosting the conference outside China for the first time, co-organised by the Federation of Malaysia Longchuan Association and the United Sabah Longchuan Association.

“This event is particularly significant as it coincides with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and China,” she added.
