PUTRAJAYA: A Chinese national who was recently issued with a Not to Land notice at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) has left the country on July 4, according to Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail. The Home Minister addressed a report stating that there was no record of her departure, clarifying that she departed on Shenzhen Airlines flight ZH9030 at 8.55pm on July 4. “The news report attempted to contradict a statement by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission chief commissioner who had confirmed that the woman and her boss had left the country,” he told reporters on Wednesday (July 12).
Earlier, a Malay daily had quoted sources claiming that there was no record of the woman leaving the country. The report identified the woman as Wang Xu, who entered Malaysia on June 29 and had not returned home. However, the report can no longer be found on the daily’s website.
On July 5, MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki had already confirmed that the two Chinese nationals involved in the commotion had returned home. The incident started when a traveller from China alleged that she was held up by Immigration officers upon her arrival from Shenzhen on June 29. Despite having all the required travel documents, she claimed that she was denied entry. Additionally, she alleged that she was asked to pay a significant amount of money if she wanted to be allowed entry.
The woman had arrived in Malaysia with her superior, a senior official of a Chinese government-owned TV station. The details and timeline of the incident have been the subject of various reports and speculations. However, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail’s clarification provides a record of the woman’s departure from Malaysia, putting an end to the confusion surrounding the case.
