A trader in his 50s was discovered dead in front of a convenience store in Pokok Assam, Taiping following his involvement in a physical altercation, according to Taiping OCPD Asst Comm Razlam Ab Hamid. The incident was reported to the police at 4.15pm on Tuesday (Sept 12). The police immediately arrested a construction worker in his 40s on the same day. To aid the investigation for a murder case under Section 302 of the Penal Code, the police obtained a remand order for the suspect from Sept 13 to 19. A post-mortem examination conducted at Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital’s forensic unit determined the cause of death to be “coronary atherosclerosis with associated soft tissue injuries.” The victim’s arm exhibited bruising as well.
