KUALA LUMPUR: Representatives of food and parcel delivery companies (p-hailing) are set to meet with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Aug 8.
The Transport Ministry (MOT) announced that this meeting was requested by the Prime Minister following his meeting with p-hailing riders on July 22, where he sought to gain a better understanding of the challenges they face.
In a statement released on Tuesday (Aug 1), the MOT affirmed the Unity Government’s commitment to the welfare of p-hailing workers and ensuring the sustainable development of the p-hailing industry in line with the concept of Malaysia Madani.
Anwar had pledged on July 22 to arrange a meeting with p-hailing companies to advocate for improved commission rates, which are reportedly currently too low.
The Prime Minister intends to engage with the companies to acquire clarification on the situation, as it is perceived as a burden for p-hailing riders. – Bernama
