    Triathlon participant who died had health issues, says Langkawi cops

    A woman participant who encountered health problems during the Ironman Langkawi Malaysia triathlon championships on Saturday (Oct 7) and was reported to be in critical condition, passed away at the Sultanah Maliha Hospital, near Langkawi on Sunday (Oct 8) afternoon.

    The Langkawi police chief, ACP Shariman Ashari, confirmed the woman’s death on Sunday night, but did not disclose any further information.

    The woman was admitted to the hospital after losing consciousness during the swimming event of the championships on Saturday. She was subsequently placed in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for treatment.

    Prior to her passing, it was reported by Bernama on Sunday that the woman had remained unconscious in the ICU and was in critical condition, according to Kedah Health Director, Datuk Dr Othman Warijo.
