Troopers Innovation CEO Joshua Tan is seeking clarification on the specific roles of the new positions. He questions whether they are for frontliners, service crews, or maintenance staff, highlighting the availability of qualified local individuals.

“The Home Minister, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution, recently highlighted a discrepancy between anticipated labor needs and the actual number of foreign workers employed in key sectors as there is an excess of over 250,000 foreign workers in the manufacturing and service sectors. The current imbalance in the employment sector, favoring foreign workers, poses a direct challenge to the job prospects of Malaysians. It is crucial that we reassess our approach to workforce planning and prioritize opportunities for our local talents,” said Tan.

In the current economic climate, Tan suggests focusing on harnessing the local workforce to ensure economic stability and job security for Malaysians.

He proposes that if there’s an urgent need for a substantial workforce, engagement initiatives should prioritize local individuals who are prepared for such opportunities.

“If the demand for workforce expansion is immediate, our first recourse should be to initiate engagement strategies that prioritize Malaysian individuals who are already equipped and eager for these opportunities, rather than expanding foreign labor,” said Tan.
