After a man was apprehended for stealing tumblers from a cafe in Subang Jaya, police discovered a treasure trove of other stolen items. The thief specifically targeted shops at a mall in the area, according to Subang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Wan Azlan Wan Mamat.
The cafe server noticed that two tumblers worth around RM250 each were missing during a stock-take on Thursday (Nov 9) and promptly reported the incident to the police. Subsequent review of CCTV footage revealed that a man in a white shirt and long black pants had taken the tumblers and stuffed them into a bag before leaving at around 12:15pm that day.
A team from the Bandar Sunway station acted on the information and successfully apprehended the 24-year-old suspect at the main entrance of the mall. The stolen goods were found inside his bag, as per ACP Wan Azlan’s statement on Friday (Nov 10).
Further investigations uncovered that the suspect had also robbed a sports apparel shop at the same mall on Oct 15, resulting in losses of over RM2,000. Additionally, police discovered 26 shirts and 10 pairs of shorts at the suspect’s residence in Bandar Sunway.
It was revealed that the suspect had a previous criminal record for theft, leading ACP Wan Azlan to announce that he will be remanded for further investigations.
