The number of job seekers at MyFutureJobs Johor 2023 exceeded expectations as 5,126 people including those from outside Johor visited the fair.

Organised to help address unemployment in the state, the fair saw some 220 people being offered jobs.

Johor youth, sports, entrepreneur development, cooperatives and human resources committee chairman Mohd Hairi Mad Shah said the two-day fair in July was held in Johor Baru.

“This is among efforts taken by the state government through Johor Human Capital Strategic Unit (SMI) in ensuring that the unemployment rate in Johor decreases, besides organising a series of other career fair programmes in July,” he said.

The career fair initiative is a joint effort between SMI and Social Security Organisation (Socso) to help the public gain access to information in their search for jobs.

“The fair is also a platform for employers to find suitable candidates.

“This can help reduce the unemployment rate in Johor,” he said in his reply to Ee Chin Li (PH-Tangkak) at the Johor state assembly sitting at Bangunan Sultan Ismail in Iskandar Puteri.

Ee had asked Mohd Hairi about the success of MyFutureJobs Johor held a few months ago.

Mohd Hairi added that 2,034 job opportunities with salaries up to RM14,000 were offered.

He said the total number of applications received was 5,727 with 3,764 applicants interviewed during the fair.

Mohd Hairi said SMI was grateful to its strategic partners including Socso and Johor Petroleum Development Corporation Bhd (JPDC) for their cooperation in making the programme a success.

“Out of the number of vacancies offered, 220 job seekers were hired in various sectors such as oil and gas, services, education, manufacturing, construction, hospitality, plantation and agriculture.
